I got tested for the baby’s gender around 10 weeks, and the results were ready about a week later, I think. I had planned to make a cake to find out what the baby was, and that weekend my parents were in town, so it was the perfect opportunity! I hired the photographer and videographer that I love, and that’s how we were going to find out.

I had my cake girl call the doctor, and she was the only one who knew the gender. Connor had been begging me to find out what it was, but I really wanted to wait for the surprise. We had sent a Zoom link to our family, and we were going to cut the cake with them.

The morning of the event, I broke and told Connor, “Let’s just find out by ourselves first!” We opened the patient portal and were shocked when we saw it was “male.” The whole time, we had thought it was a girl, and it took a bit to digest. I’m so happy we found out before the event because I think it would’ve been too awkward to be shocked in front of everyone, lol.

After a few minutes, the shock wore off, and we were beyond excited. I could not imagine my life without my boy—he is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me!
