Engagement Celebration
I can’t remember if we were going to Colombia for any specific reason or if I planned the whole trip around this engagement celebration, but I knew it was important to celebrate with my family in Colombia—and I’m so glad I did because that was the last time I saw my grandma. She gave me a bracelet that said D&C and a beautiful letter. Every time I brought up the wedding, it was as if she knew she wasn’t going to be there.
But this is a happy post, not a sad one! I’m celebrating the fact that she was there and that she celebrated with us. I think we all had one too many margaritas—it definitely turned into a dinner full of deep conversations with the family.
Once again, I got to continue experimenting with white attire. I didn’t love my hair and makeup this day—again, a bit too much—and I didn’t love my outfit either. But hey, I did love my Manolo shoes, and at least I was stepping in the right direction with the looks I was going to finalize for the wedding.
The florals were beautiful, and the menus and place cards were the highlight of the day for me. They were handwritten by a friend’s mom who runs Lauren Santo Domingo’s events in Colombia. For those who don’t know, she’s a fashion icon, and honestly, I think it’s so cool that I got something done by one of her people, haha. My friend’s mom is so sweet. I originally saw her handwriting at their wedding and told her, “For my wedding, you have to do some of this for me!” She agreed.
It was a beautiful evening that will forever be in our hearts. My dad toasted, and we all celebrated Connor and me—officially welcoming him into the family. My uncle even gifted Connor pictures of me when I was little, and it’s a memory we will cherish forever.
