I still can’t believe we had both sides of our family here with us for the birth of our baby and that we hosted a full-on family event just 3 days after giving birth, including dinners and lunches—lol, omg.

It was so special to have that time with everyone and for everyone to meet him, especially because we live far from each other and he’s the first grandchild. But at the same time, I was healing, and Connor and I weren’t sleeping at night because he was feeding every 2 hours. We were just learning to get to know him and figuring out what we felt comfortable with and what we didn’t.

Also, he didn’t have his vaccines yet, so having everyone hold him was nerve-wracking. I think for our second baby, we might do it alone and have the family visit later!
But it was an experience we’ll look back on and celebrate—those memories are so special, especially having everyone together at the same time.
